Frequently Asked Questions
Why choose a Clinical Psychologist?
Our Clinical Psychologists have completed a doctorate involving supervised clinical training, academic teaching and research. We have extensive knowledge of psychological theory, research and practice and have completed at least six years at University, so we can bring a very high level of expertise to work together with you to address what you are struggling with. As Clinical Psychologists, our particular expertise is in “formulating” (making sense of) a wide range of psychological difficulties and drawing on different evidence-based psychological therapies as required. This means that we can help when there are multiple "problems", or you aren't sure where to start.
How does it work practically?
We initially schedule a free 15-minute telephone call to answer any questions you may have about the process, and to check that we are the right service for you. If you wish to go ahead, we will schedule a video assessment at the end of this call. We usually offer 1-2 assessment sessions to get a detailed picture of what has contributed to your distress, what factors may be keeping you feeling stuck, and how you would like to be able to move forwards. We will then make a plan on how we can work together to start moving forwards towards your goals. We can either meet weekly or fortnightly, usually at the same time and day each week, we only work online at present. The number of sessions we will need is variable, and we can decide between us. Sometimes 2-3 sessions are enough to work through what you have been through, and show you the path for healing and moving forwards. In other cases, a longer piece of work is required to process traumatic experiences, or consider more complex factors.
How much does it cost?
Each session costs £125, and we require payment to be made a minimum of 48 hours before each session.
Can I bring my baby to sessions?
Ideally, therapy sessions are a space where you can just focus on you and your needs. However, we understand that when you have a young child this may be challenging! We encourage you where possible to arrange childcare, but if you need baby with you for a feed, or childcare would be a barrier to coming then of course bring them along. Just be aware that this may mean that our sessions are less productive or need to be adapted.
I'm a healthcare professional - Do you offer any training or supervision?
Yes! We love working with other professionals, and offer regular CPD workshops online. For more information please refer to our "Professionals" tab. Our workshops are all run as small interactive groups, so there are lots of opportunities to ask questions, and think together. If you can't attend live, or wish to listen back, our workshops are also available to watch back for 3 months. We can also come to you organisation and offer some training for your whole team. We are also very happy to adapt our workshops so they can perfectly meet your needs. Get in touch to discuss more.
